I hate to see the summer fly by so quickly, but I am looking forward to some shows in August that will give me chances to play with and open for a number of exciting musicians. Here's what's on the radar: - On Aug. 5, I will be playing with The Insolent Willies at two local festivals -- Railfest in Gloversville (starting around 3:30 p.m.) and at Riverfest in Amsterdam (starting around 6:30 p.m.) I've played at Railfest many times in the past, always donating my services, as that's a community fundraiser and a good cause. Last year, I played at Railfest with The Doghouse Carpenters, and previously, I had done it solo and with The Bentwood Rockers. The Amsterdam event on Aug. 5 is particularly exciting for two reasons -- we will have a new drummer playing with us (welcome, Mike O'Neil!) and because we will be opening for the acclaimed Sean Rowe. Don't miss it! - On Aug. 18, I'll be returning to Union Hall Inn in Johnstown, NY, for a performance by The Insolent Willies. Union Hall is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in this fair city, and it's the venue where Frank DeVer Pullen and I first performed under the 'Willies' moniker. A recording of our first show there, a set of Celtic pub music for St. Patrick's Day, is available to stream or download here: LIVE AT UNION HALL - On Aug. 19, I'll be honored to open for Dick Solberg, "The Sun Mountain Fiddler," at an ice cream social hosted by the Caroga Historical Museum in Caroga Lake, N.Y. If you haven't heard about the musical/cultural revolution taking place in the town of Caroga, you need to get up to speed! Check out http://carogalakemusicfestival.org.
