Happy October! I'll be playing with Frank Dever Pullen (as The Insolent Willies) on Friday, Oct. 20 (my birthday!) at Green Wolf Brewing Co. Here's a little live audio from last October to get you in the mood for Halloween:

Here's a demo I recorded recently of a new song tentatively titled "The Churchmouse and the Jailbird." It's a little gospel-flavored fable. Hope you like it.The summer has gone by too fast, as always. But I have some exciting things coming up in September:
- On Sept. 9, I’ll be playing in the morning at the Gloversville Farmers Market. This is one of the best little farmers markets in the region, and I have been playing there every summer for the last dozen years or more. The vendors are terrific and always supportive of the music. - Later that day, from 4-6 p.m., I will be doing a solo show at Red Shed Brewery in Cherry Valley, N.Y. If you like craft beer and live acoustic music, this is a can’t-miss location! - On Sept. 15, Frank DeVer Pullen and I will be heading to Tom White’s Wizmak Studio in Middleburgh, N.Y., to record some tracks for a new album under the band name The Innocent Willies. Stay tuned for news on this recording project! On Sept. 17, I will be playing with The Doghouse Carpenters at a cross-country race and festival at Lapland Lake in southern Hamilton County, N.Y. - I will once again be teaching private lessons at the www.pncreativeartscenter.org/music-lessons/Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts. Contact me at [email protected] for information about lessons in guitar, violin, mandolin or ukulele! I hate to see the summer fly by so quickly, but I am looking forward to some shows in August that will give me chances to play with and open for a number of exciting musicians. Here's what's on the radar: - On Aug. 5, I will be playing with The Insolent Willies at two local festivals -- Railfest in Gloversville (starting around 3:30 p.m.) and at Riverfest in Amsterdam (starting around 6:30 p.m.) I've played at Railfest many times in the past, always donating my services, as that's a community fundraiser and a good cause. Last year, I played at Railfest with The Doghouse Carpenters, and previously, I had done it solo and with The Bentwood Rockers. The Amsterdam event on Aug. 5 is particularly exciting for two reasons -- we will have a new drummer playing with us (welcome, Mike O'Neil!) and because we will be opening for the acclaimed Sean Rowe. Don't miss it! - On Aug. 18, I'll be returning to Union Hall Inn in Johnstown, NY, for a performance by The Insolent Willies. Union Hall is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in this fair city, and it's the venue where Frank DeVer Pullen and I first performed under the 'Willies' moniker. A recording of our first show there, a set of Celtic pub music for St. Patrick's Day, is available to stream or download here: LIVE AT UNION HALL - On Aug. 19, I'll be honored to open for Dick Solberg, "The Sun Mountain Fiddler," at an ice cream social hosted by the Caroga Historical Museum in Caroga Lake, N.Y. If you haven't heard about the musical/cultural revolution taking place in the town of Caroga, you need to get up to speed! Check out http://carogalakemusicfestival.org. |
